The
Geo Developer Relations team supports some of the world's most popular
APIs, including the Google Maps JavaScript API, Google Maps Android API,
Google Maps SDK for iOS, and the Google Places API. As a Technical
Writer, you will communicate with hundreds of thousands of developers
worldwide through conceptual documentation, training and instructional
content, API References, sample code, and video content. You'll have
plenty of opportunity to inspire our developer community through the
creation of simple code samples or complex sample applications that will
supplement core documentation. You might have a background as a
developer, and write as a hobby; or perhaps you're an experienced
communicator who loves digging deep into code. One thing is for certain -
you are passionate about helping developers do amazing things.
Responsibilities
- Write technical documentation for our external developer audience, such as API reference manuals and developer guides.
- Design and organize documentation sets for new APIs and developer products.
- Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others, and coach non-writers on ways to improve their writing skills.
- Supplement developer documentation for Android, iOS and JavaScript APIs with relevant sample code.
Area
There's
always more information out there, and often, the information that
matters most is what's nearest to you. The Commerce and Local team is
made up of our geography and e-commerce experts. When we're not mapping
the Amazon rainforest, we're helping you buy a bike, recommending the
best slice of pizza within pedaling distance, providing directions on
how to get there, and letting you pay for it via your phone. From Google
Maps and Google Places to Google Offers and Google Wallet, the Commerce
and Local team helps our users navigate the world around them.
