Network Engineer, Deployment, TX, USA

Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. The Network Deployment team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. The team configures and installs network gear including running cables, hardware setup and decommissioning old gear as we're in a constant upgrade cycle. You have an appetite for accuracy and conduct site surveys and audits to verify that each network site has been built to the right specifications. A typical day can sometimes be physically demanding, but you're energetic and willing to participate in field deployments that are often off-site and off-hours. Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, you'll also develop creative approaches to keep operational costs low and improve the efficiency of our ever-growing infrastructure.

As an Engineer for the Network Deployment team you will be on the front lines of our efforts to deploy, design and maintain one of the largest and most complex private data networks in the world. You will work with network architects, capacity management, project managers, and engineers within Google to gather network requirements, deploy Google's private network, create and manage network implementation/integration plans, and create physical and logical network designs. You will use your experience in networking, data centers, and colocation to establish and improve best practices and procedures. The objective is to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support Google users.
